Sr. Manager, Small Commercial Product and Market Management (Hybrid)
About the role
You will lead a team responsible for Commercial products design and development in collaboration with business partners. You will research solutions that inform recommended actions to improve profitability, growth, and customer experience in support of annual profit and growth plans. In this role, you'll align new products, enhancements, and initiatives to the Commercial top and bottom line short-term and long-term goals. You will create insights from intelligence about customers, market, and competitors for problem-solving and proactively identifying product solutions aligned to product strategy. You will report to a director of product.
Responsibilities

- Communicate and support organization mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.
- Hold P&L accountability for the small commercial west region products, including Commercial Multi-Peril, Commercial Auto, Work Comp, and Commercial Umbrella lines of business within the assigned region.
- Lead with a continuous improvement approach and recommend actions to improve small commercial premium volume growth and profitability within the assigned region.
- Oversee product research and insights gathering, including competitive intelligence, customer/stakeholder empathy, and developing solutions for in-market small commercial products.
- Lead the West Regional Product and Market Management team to execute pricing opportunities to enhance pricing and underwriting segmentation.
- Manage and effectively set the outcomes of the regional Commercial product strategic roadmap, defining what “good” looks like and prioritizing accordingly.
- Create a cross-functional leadership environment, aligning actuarial, product, underwriting, sales, claims, marketing, and legal/compliance.
- Achieve the profit and growth plan for markets by managing and overseeing regional product managers to execute state strategy and related accountabilities.
- Lead the development and execution of small commercial regional product strategy at a market/state level.
- Make market decisions on Product Guides within the assigned region.
- Manage portfolio view of CAT/Capital Efficiency Management within the assigned region.
- Lead a team of Regional Product Managers developing region-specific product communications within the assigned market.
- Oversee and manage P&G Planning as a portfolio of states within the assigned region.
- Lead the development and execution of the Rate Plan & Filing Schedule by state/LOB within the assigned region.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting facts and data, including financial information, in a way that can lead to actionable conclusions.
- Demonstrated experience communicating to a variety of audiences to review findings, arguments, options, risks, benefits, and other issues in a frame of reference that the audience can understand; translate technical detail into business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience driving results in one or more of the following areas: sales, product lines, claims, or other core business functions.
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading large complex projects or programs with a cross-divisional impact toward intended results.
- Demonstrated effective experience leading people or projects.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of root cause analysis and processes.
- Demonstrated experience developing insurance product strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in product development and/or management with a focus on profit and loss.
- Solid knowledge of market research and marketplace and regulatory trends.
- Solid knowledge of Commercial P&C product management, preferably within small commercial and leading regional product management teams.
- Strong knowledge of pricing & underwriting segmentation to achieve P&G plan.
Pay
Position compensation range: $131,000.00 - $220,000.00. Pay rate type: Salary. Compensation may vary based on job level and geographic work location.
Schedule
- In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from either Madison, WI; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Hopkins, MN; or St Joseph, MO. Madison is preferred.
- Travel requirements: Up to 25%.
