Sr Manager, Research Project Management

About the Role

This position serves as the project manager for highly complex research projects, collaborating with the principal investigator. Responsibilities include leading proposal writing and submission, managing resources and budgets for a portfolio of research projects, and directing compliance with local, federal, and industry requirements. The role also involves overseeing research study execution, developing infrastructure and protocols, identifying training needs, and ensuring data preparation for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead portions of writing, preparation, and timely submission of research proposals from conceptualization to submission.
• Develop and manage resources and budgets for a portfolio of research projects.
• Manage the execution of research studies, including data gathering activities and team leadership.
• Direct compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, IRB, grant/contract, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide direction on infrastructure development and implementation of research protocols.
• Oversee training needs identification, resource development, and certification programs for team members and clinical staff.
• Ensure qualitative and/or quantitative data is prepared for analyses.
• Oversee the development and effective use of tools, systems, and forms for documentation, reporting, and dissemination of research activities.
• Create and advocate for developmental opportunities; build collaborative, cross-functional relationships.
• Solicit and act on performance feedback; set goals and provide coaching for performance improvement.
• Pursue professional growth; hire, train, and develop talent; strategically evaluate talent for succession planning.
• Oversee implementation of organizational change; share best practices within and across teams.
• Foster open dialogue, motivate teams, and promote collaboration to meet business objectives.
• Delegate tasks and decisions; provide guidance and support for decision-making.
• Manage designated units or teams by translating business plans into tactical action items.
• Align team efforts; build accountability and measure progress in achieving results.
• Communicate goals and objectives; incorporate resources, costs, and forecasts into plans.
• Remove obstacles impacting performance; address improvement opportunities.
• Enforce compliance with policies and procedures for project activities.
• Guide project teams; hold members accountable for results and align skills with project demands.
• Manage project management activities, including scope, schedule, inter-dependencies, and resource forecasting.
• Ensure project financials are managed within budget allocations.
• Proactively monitor project performance and adjust as needed.
• Manage project activities related to organizational change management.
• Proactively monitor, identify, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Lead stakeholder management by building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Clarify accountability and authority across stakeholders; manage project goals and prioritization.
• Lead vendor management activities, including performance oversight and contract negotiations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Health Services, Statistics, Health Economics, or a related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in health research, public health, laboratory or social science research, epidemiology, social or behavioral sciences, health services, or a directly related field.
• OR minimum eleven (11) years of experience in the fields listed above.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience implementing large, complex projects in a corporate, non-profit, or government environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
• Experience disseminating research findings via presentations (e.g., poster/oral abstract presentations, symposia, panel discussions, lectures).
• Three (3) years of experience delivering presentations to senior management.
• Three (3) years of medical center operations project management experience.
• Four (4) years of experience working with collaboration software (e.g., SharePoint, MS Teams).
• Four (4) years of experience working with clinical operations.
• Four (4) years of experience leading educational and training programs.
• Four (4) years of experience working with policy, regulatory, licensure, and compliance operations.
• Four (4) years of experience working with qualitative and quantitative analyses.
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• Four (4) years of experience delivering training programs.
• Four (4) years of experience working with digital file creation.
• Four (4) years of experience working with learning and curriculum development.
• Four (4) years of experience working with large/complex medical group operations.
• Three (3) years of inter-regional project management experience.
• Three (3) years of experience managing vendor contracts and relationships.
• Four (4) years of experience working with project management software.
• Four (4) years of experience working with regulatory oversight.

Pay

$139,600 - $180,620 / year
