Sr Manager, Production

About the role

Sets up and operates automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Reports malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, with at least one professional expert or supervisor as a direct report. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and departmental plans, with guidance from management. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and/or customers.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of one or more assigned production or manufacturing areas.
• Ensures output meets established schedules or quality goals.
• Manages a team responsible for operating production machinery, assembling items, performing quality control, or packaging goods for shipment.
• Ensures sufficient inventory levels and appropriate staffing to meet demand.
• Collaborates with R&D, product development/engineering, facilities management, maintenance, or customer service to meet organizational goals for safety, efficiency, quality, and profitability.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 7-8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• Critical professional-related technical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
• Ability to work as part of a team and strong management skills.
• Problem/situation analysis and analytical thinking.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships and exercise judgment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods.
• Work may involve indoor/outdoor exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.

Travel Requirements

No or very little travel likely.
