About the Role

Lead a mixed team of Technicians and Engineers as the subject matter expert for all Machining processes at GDOTS Lincoln Operations. Manage blanket Purchase Orders for support tools and equipment, specify CNC equipment needs, machine configurations, and spare parts inventory. Engage with Operations to solicit feedback, own and update Process Maps, FMEAs, and Control Plans for core Machining Operations, and lead root cause analysis when machining methods are not in control. Work with program teams to develop detailed machining processes, instructions, and tooling for development and production parts, and aid in troubleshooting CNC machine issues.

Manages professional employees and/or supervisors, with accountability for the performance and results of a team within the specialty area. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges, guided by policies, procedures, and departmental plans. Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team responsible for optimization, design, and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, or plants.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process design, cost savings, quality, and resource utilization using process metrics.
  • Lead engineering projects, incorporate new technologies, resolve engineering problems, and approve process designs.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and other departments to align engineering solutions with business goals.
  • Lead and direct the work of employees, including hiring, performance management, and termination with HR and Senior Leadership concurrence.
  • Mentor and develop team members in CNC Machining/G-Code Programming, machine configurations, FMEAs, Control Plans, and problem-solving (PDCA/A3/RCA).
  • Utilize CAM Software (Surfcam, HSM Works, Mastercam) and experience with machining Composite Materials.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings and GD&T.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 7-8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Leadership skills and experience with CAD Software, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software, Continuous Improvement, Equipment Evaluation, Mathematical Modeling, Process Engineering, Process Mapping, Project Management, Requirements Engineering/Analysis, and Statistical Process Control.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Product Design, and Data Analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
  • Regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities, including standing for long periods.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Travel Requirements

Less than 25% travel likely.
