We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives.

About the role

AMD is seeking a Senior Manager of Media Relations to drive proactive storytelling in the Global Communications team. This person will identify the agenda-setting stories that need to be told, map them to the right reporters and influencers, and manage the work to land them. The role includes building and deepening relationships with reporters and influencers and collaborating across the Global Communications team to educate and influence these stakeholders. This person will own proactive engagement, ensuring that AMD’s differentiated narrative is widely and accurately understood, that the company is well positioned versus competitors, and that the volume of coverage increases outside of company moments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and pitch stories. Craft compelling, differentiated stories and proactively pitch them to corporate and top tech media and influencers, securing coverage that drives awareness, influence, and action across key audiences.
  • Run a program for the ‘moments in between the moments’. Maintain an always-on big stories motion to ensure that AMD is featured in the media outside of key moments like product launches, earnings, and company events.
  • Build and deepen relationships. Develop, nurture, and deepen relationships with journalists and influencers covering AMD and the broader AI and semiconductor landscape. Serve as a trusted, go-to resource who educates the media on AMD’s technology, strategy, and point of view.
  • Collaborate across the communications team to drive impact and best practices. Partner with PR leads during key moments to provide media and influencer strategy and ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Monitor the landscape. Continuously track the media and influencer landscape to understand coverage trends, identify emerging voices, anticipate narrative risks and opportunities, and inform AMD’s engagement strategy.
  • Drive a best-in-class program across key moments. Partner across the PR and broader communications team to ensure AMD has a stellar media and influencer relations program spanning all important moments—including industry events, product launches, quarterly earnings, and corporate announcements.
  • Prepare the team and executives. Ensure AMD’s communications team and executives are consistently well-prepared for media and influencer engagements, including briefings, messaging, and Q&A readiness.
  • Champion AMD’s narrative. Ensure AMD’s differentiated story is consistently and widely covered, reinforcing AMD’s position as a preeminent leader in the semiconductor industry.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in media relations strategy, influencer relations, PR, or corporate communications, ideally within technology, semiconductors, or another fast-moving, technically complex industry.
  • A proven track record of building strong relationships with top-tier media and influencers and consistently securing high-impact coverage.
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and pitching skills, with the ability to translate complex technology into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the media and influencer landscape.
  • Experience supporting executives and preparing spokespeople for high-stakes engagements.
  • A collaborative, cross-functional approach and the ability to operate effectively across major company moments, including product launches and earnings.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information and narrative risk.
