About the role
The Senior Engineering/Maintenance Manager oversees a team of engineers and technicians in the completion of engineering and maintenance functions and projects.
Responsibilities
- Hire and train qualified staff
- Set project budgets and timelines for completion
- Oversee maintenance and adjustment of machinery and processes in the facility
- Partner with Process Engineering and Maintenance teams to install, test, and release equipment to production after machine modifications
- Familiarize with Root Cause Analysis of machine failure to aid in resolutions to increase machine reliability and future-proof aged equipment
- Develop detailed plans for machine modifications and installations
- Propose Capital Expense project budgets based on plant needs and equipment within the facility
- Lead project development to update aged equipment and communicate with company stakeholders
- Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), track performance, and take actions to meet goals
- Check the team's work for technical accuracy and sustainability
- Coordinate with other department managers and staff to improve plant workflow and resolve recurring issues
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline
- 5+ years’ previous experience as an Engineering Manager
- Master’s degree in engineering or business discipline
- Six-sigma Black Belt Certification, Lean Certification
- Knowledge of Fiber Optic Industry desirable
- SAP experience preferred
- Acute ability to understand and use data for continuous improvement
- Large project management experience

- Understanding of machine controls methodology
- Understanding of machine layout and design tools
- Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
- Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel
- Detail oriented for understanding complex systems and paying attention to details
- Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics for developing new processes and equipment operational improvements
- Organizational skills for keeping track of budgets, employees, and schedules simultaneously
