About the Role

Provides leadership, direction, and strategies for the maintenance function, including maintenance planning, routine maintenance, turnaround planning/execution, and capital/expense projects. Actively participates in labor-management committees (where appropriate) and in developing strategic/operational plans and budgets. Leadership accountability for safe, environmentally sound, and reliable operations of the Maintenance department.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads the activities of the Maintenance Team to ensure process safety, safety, environmental, reliability, and cost goals of the refinery are achieved
  • Implements and manages environmental requirements ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and rules
  • Leads steward for site maintenance budget and annual maintenance plan
  • Supervises, coaches, and mentors maintenance supervisors and planners/schedulers on maintenance priorities and schedules, policies and procedures, employee relations, and work activities
  • Collaborates with Production Leadership to set maintenance department objectives and strategies
  • Develops and tracks department scorecard matrix of maintenance department’s goals, objectives, and strategies
  • Develops matrix for backlog maintenance work
  • Ensures proper training of supervision and craftsmen
  • Ensures that all maintenance work includes quality documentation, including procedures, checklists, and/or job plans, signed off by maintenance and production supervision
  • Supports turnaround and unit shutdown planning and execution through active participation in scope development, providing justification for work items, and providing support during commissioning of equipment, shutdown/startup, and outage timeframe
  • Manages preventative and predictive maintenance activities, procedures, and programs
  • Approves requisitions and contract service authorizations within the Delegation of Authority limits
  • Responsible for controlling overtime worked to minimize budget impact
  • Facilitates Post Shut-down Critique meeting and follows up on Post-Shutdown Critique meeting assignments
  • Regularly walks job site (50% of the time), must be able to wear PPE, and may be required to climb ladders or scaffolding

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required); equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Two or more years of maintenance leadership (Required)
  • Eight or more years of experience in maintenance within a refining, industrial, or manufacturing facility (Required)
