About the Role
Provides leadership, direction, and strategies for the maintenance function, including maintenance planning, routine maintenance, turnaround planning/execution, and capital/expense projects. Actively participates in labor-management committees (where appropriate) and in developing strategic/operational plans and budgets. Leadership accountability for safe, environmentally sound, and reliable operations of the Maintenance department.
Responsibilities
- Manages and leads the activities of the Maintenance Team to ensure process safety, safety, environmental, reliability, and cost goals of the refinery are achieved
- Implements and manages environmental requirements ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and rules
- Leads steward for site maintenance budget and annual maintenance plan
- Supervises, coaches, and mentors maintenance supervisors and planners/schedulers on maintenance priorities and schedules, policies and procedures, employee relations, and work activities
- Collaborates with Production Leadership to set maintenance department objectives and strategies
- Develops and tracks department scorecard matrix of maintenance department’s goals, objectives, and strategies
- Develops matrix for backlog maintenance work
- Ensures proper training of supervision and craftsmen
- Ensures that all maintenance work includes quality documentation, including procedures, checklists, and/or job plans, signed off by maintenance and production supervision
- Supports turnaround and unit shutdown planning and execution through active participation in scope development, providing justification for work items, and providing support during commissioning of equipment, shutdown/startup, and outage timeframe
- Manages preventative and predictive maintenance activities, procedures, and programs
- Approves requisitions and contract service authorizations within the Delegation of Authority limits
- Responsible for controlling overtime worked to minimize budget impact
- Facilitates Post Shut-down Critique meeting and follows up on Post-Shutdown Critique meeting assignments
- Regularly walks job site (50% of the time), must be able to wear PPE, and may be required to climb ladders or scaffolding
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required); equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Two or more years of maintenance leadership (Required)
- Eight or more years of experience in maintenance within a refining, industrial, or manufacturing facility (Required)
