About the role
The Sr Manager Engineering & Environmental role at Shoal Creek Mine is responsible for directing engineering and environmental activities, including surveying, permits, and licenses. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating engineering feasibility studies, mine plans, capital requirements, and mine designs.
- Supporting new mine construction activity and operations.
- Mining and reclamation activities compliance, including monitoring and reporting.
- Developing and managing long-term mining plans and regulatory approvals.
- Engineering assistance for mine infrastructure, including slopes, shafts, ventilation, and reclamation.
- Providing technical assistance and support to other departments.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Ensuring accurate and proper procedures and measures are used for production, cost, and performance data.
- Compiling and submitting accurate production and operating reports to Mine Management and the Corporate Office.
- Coordinating with Mine Management on short-term and long-term mining plans and reclamation operations.
- Developing and managing long-term mining plans and mining/reclamation permits.
- Providing engineering assistance for mine infrastructure planning and construction.
- Making recommendations to improve operating efficiency and compliance with laws and permits.
- Acting as a representative during inspections conducted by State and Federal reclamation inspectors.
- Generating reports and conducting special projects involving evaluation and testing of equipment or material performance.
Requirements
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering with Environmental background.
- Advanced Degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
- Professional Engineering Certification, preferred.
- AutoCAD, SurvCADD, COGO, Ventilation Modelling, SMCRA, HAZWOPER, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Experience in capital cost estimating, project cost control, and schedule management.
- Strong working knowledge and experience in State and Federal mining and environmental regulations.
- Management/supervisory experience and communication/presentation skills to senior management.
