Sr Manager, Engineering

About the Role
Provides strategic technical oversight and leadership for complex DoD ammunition production programs. This role ensures end-to-end technical excellence across business capture, production support, ballistic test validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and design and development activities. The Sr. Manager is accountable for delivering compliant, on-schedule products while resolving technical challenges to maintain safety, quality, and all contractual requirements. Additionally, this position delivers advanced technical support for high-visibility program efforts by developing, applying, and guiding the use of sophisticated engineering theories, methodologies, and research techniques.

Responsibilities
- Analyzes, develops, and evaluates systems as well as improving and maintaining current systems or creating new projects.
- Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.
- Recommends operational plans with direct impact on results.
- Communicates with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, including constructing and presenting status briefings on technical challenges.
- Works with third-party resources, site leadership, and other departments to bring comprehensive solutions for operations, production, or maintenance issues related to local production or test failures.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 7-8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Critical professional-related technical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Chemical Engineering.
- Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering preferred.
- Leadership skills and ability to foster teamwork.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
- Technical expertise.
- Experience within chemical manufacturing and/or the defense industry highly desired.
- Experience in the energetic materials field.
- Strong engineering skills and understanding of the design and composition of existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- May need to stand for long periods.
- Work may require exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery, both inside and outside.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
Travel Requirements
Up to 25% travel likely.
