Sr Manager, Engineering

About the Role

Provides strategic technical oversight and leadership for complex DoD ammunition production programs. This role ensures end-to-end technical excellence across business capture, production support, ballistic test validation, continuous improvement initiatives, and design and development activities. The Sr. Manager is accountable for delivering compliant, on-schedule products while resolving technical challenges to maintain safety, quality, and all contractual requirements. Additionally, this position delivers advanced technical support for high-visibility program efforts by developing, applying, and guiding the use of sophisticated engineering theories, methodologies, and research techniques.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, develops, and evaluates systems as well as improving and maintaining current systems or creating new projects.
• Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment.
• Recommends operational plans with direct impact on results.
• Communicates with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, including constructing and presenting status briefings on technical challenges.
• Works with third-party resources, site leadership, and other departments to bring comprehensive solutions for operations, production, or maintenance issues related to local production or test failures.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree and 7-8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• Critical professional-related technical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Chemical Engineering.
• Discipline/Major: Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering preferred.
• Leadership skills and ability to foster teamwork.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
• Technical expertise.
• Experience within chemical manufacturing and/or the defense industry highly desired.
• Experience in the energetic materials field.
• Strong engineering skills and understanding of the design and composition of existing products and engineering/business processes and principles.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods.
• Work may require exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery, both inside and outside.
• May be requested to work a different shift.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.
