Sr. Manager, EH&S Safety
Location: US-AZ-REMOTE (position is remote, but located near a major Raytheon location such as Andover, MA; McKinney, TX; or Tucson, AZ). U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. An active and existing U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required after day one.
About the Role
This role provides expert Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) leadership across a variety of operations, processes, and emerging technologies, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable solutions. By partnering with key stakeholders, the position strengthens organizational resilience through consistent hazard-control strategies, technical safety communications, Management of Change (MOC) governance support, and participation in safety incident investigations and review boards. The role enables innovation while reducing risk, advancing compliance, and reinforcing a strong safety culture that supports mission-critical processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise on emerging technologies—including lithium-ion batteries, high-voltage systems, automation/robotics, and novel materials—and how associated risks intersect with EHS compliance and safe operation.
- Serve as the primary EHS liaison to Product Safety and the Office of the Chief Engineer, ensuring collaboration and alignment on EHS compliance.
- Partner closely with Engineering Lab Management to ensure safe work processes.
- Coordinate EHS support for Failure Review Boards (FRB), providing independent safety oversight, input on root cause analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Coordinate EHS support for Engineering Safety Review Boards, collaborating with engineering leadership on risk identification, mitigation, and acceptance.
- Support the EHS Management of Change (MOC) process, including review of new processes, equipment, test setups, materials, and facility modifications.
- Develop and support EHS bulletins, safety communications, and incident-related learnings to be shared across engineering and operational organizations.
- Support cross-site and cross-functional EHS program implementation, ensuring consistency of hazard control strategies and alignment with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, military standards, and Raytheon requirements.
- Conduct or support investigations involving emerging technologies; collaborate on root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Provide guidance to engineering teams on hazard analyses, risk assessments, and mitigations.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and corporate assessments covering engineering, laboratory, and high-hazard operations.
- Mentor EHS and engineering personnel on safety engineering concepts, control methodologies, and regulatory interpretations.
- Travel domestically and internationally approximately 25% of the time.
