About the Role

As the Site BD Excellence Senior Manager, you will be passionate about creating a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) across the site through deploying the BD Excellence program. You will ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, as well as all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations. Regular, punctual attendance is essential, and you must be able to read, write, and converse in English while upholding BD Values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy deployment (SD) and ensure strategic alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) top-down and bottom-up.
  • Support the site leadership team in creating a strategic vision of improvement goals and the site master plan (deployment roadmap and maturity expectations).
  • Support governance processes across relevant BD Excellence components.
  • Partner with the plant leadership team and Business Unit Managers to co-develop and execute the plant’s implementation of BD Excellence and the Cost to Win (CTW) plan/budget.
  • Coach the plant leadership team on BD Excellence, focusing on external and internal benchmarking.
  • Develop and mentor a zero-loss mindset across critical areas to optimize quality, delivery, and cost while improving safety.
  • Grow capability through components and component teams to establish fundamentals of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability.
  • Guide the site to ensure focus of resources and time on priorities.
  • Coordinate BD Excellence components deployment and drive capability development through advanced methodologies.
  • Achieve long-term CI objectives through cross-functional alignment of all resources toward shared goals.
  • Teach, coach, and demonstrate proficiency in BD Excellence concepts, including strategy development & deployment (SDD), core components, Zero Loss mindset, and related methodologies/tools.
  • Lead and facilitate breakthrough Kaizen events and the Focused Improvement component team.
  • Develop and grow problem-solving capability at all levels.
  • Drive collaboration with the site leadership team to generate, sustain, and deliver a multi-year CTW portfolio, oversee governance processes, and optimize the site loss landscape.
  • Coordinate the activity of all component teams and focused improvement project teams to eliminate loss according to strategic goals.
  • Meet or exceed CTW goals through leading and/or supporting Focused Improvement team savings projects driven by loss awareness and maturing loss landscape.
  • Create and manage the Continuous Improvement budget.
  • Supervise the BD Excellence Manager.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required to support business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant field (required).
  • Seven years of manufacturing experience or leadership experience in a plant (required).
  • Three years of experience operating a production system (required).
  • Certified or recognized as a Production System practitioner (required).
  • Previous experience in implementing, and strong knowledge of, Lean and Six Sigma business systems (required).
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification (preferred).
  • Experience working in a multi-site and multi-cultural environment (required).

  • Strong track record in project or program management.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with people at all levels.
  • Advanced business acumen and ability to display the linkage between projects and desired business results.
  • Proficient in developing compelling business cases for resource investment, aligned with CTW finance policies and guidelines.
  • Proficient team player with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Proficient leadership and strategic thinking.
  • Proficient in working within highly matrixed organizations and organizational savvy.
  • Proficient in building effective transversal teams and networks.
  • Proficient in managing complexity and diversity, with strong adaptability.
  • Proficient financial acumen and results orientation.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office).
  • Proficient communication and presentation skills.
