About the role
The Sr Maintenance Planner & Scheduler will report to the Maintenance Manager with a dotted line to the Continuous Improvement Manager. Responsible for improving the maintenance work force productivity, effectiveness, and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through Preventive Maintenance (PM) planning and scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access. Prepares reports for management. Tracks and monitors costs and identifies variance to budgeted plans.
Responsibilities
- Schedule preventive maintenance (PM) activities.
- Perform audits of PM activities across production to verify completion, accuracy, and adherence to established standards.
- Conduct floor-level verification (“go and see”) to confirm maintenance work is completed as documented and aligns with standard procedures and safety requirements.
- Review work orders, schedules, and maintenance records within CMMS systems to identify missed PMs, incomplete documentation, and inconsistencies in execution.
- Participate with continuous improvement teams on improvement projects particularly associated with Proactive Maintenance Plans (PM/PdM).
- Document audit findings, track trends in downtime, repeat equipment issues, and PM compliance, and communicate observations to Maintenance and Continuous Improvement leadership.
- Support implementation of corrective actions and process improvements aimed at increasing equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and minimizing scrap and rework.
- Develop PM time standards by observing, collecting data, analyzing results, recommending and communicating the time standards for each type of PM.
- Develop PM and standard job plans.
- MRO Supply Chain Coordination- Stock management including determining items to stock and QOH.
- Creation of purchase requisitions for planned work.
- Creation of stock reservations for planned work.
- Pick Ticket creation for planned work.
- Aid Storeroom function in the kitting and staging of job material requirements.
- Career Development- Mentor and train junior staff.
- Coordinate with operations, purchasing, materials, maintenance personnel and maintenance management.
- Manage rebuild parts program.
- Maintain a solid understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
- Utilize maintenance strategies to eliminate failures.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in related field preferred
- 5+ years of maintenance experience
- Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CMMS
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience a plus, but not a requirement
- Strong Electrical/Mechanical aptitude.
- Previous supervisory experience is desirable.
- Effective oral and written communication and people management skills.
- Demonstrates the ability for independent decision-making.
- Must be flexible and responsive to the business needs.
