Sr. Mainframe Developer

Cognizant is seeking an experienced professional with 7+ years of strong expertise in mainframe technologies and Healthcare Claims processing. The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional and offshore teams to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technical solutions for Claims applications by transforming business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant mainframe systems.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe Claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and support teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members and coordinate onsite-offshore activities.
• Serve as a key point of contact for technical issue resolution.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practices.
• Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-implementation activities.

Requirements

• Strong experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
• Experience with Healthcare Claims Adjudication processes and related business workflows.
• Strong understanding of code migration and release management processes.
• Experience with package creation and code promotion across Development, Test, QA, and Production environments.
• Knowledge of post-deployment validation and backout procedures.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and offshore development teams.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 and $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance.
