Sr Liquid Systems Responsible Engineer
About the role
At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related product lines. You will join the zero‑g propellant management team, rethinking how space systems are designed with a high‑performance architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid design iteration. As a Senior Cryogenic Responsible Engineer you will provide technical oversight, requirement development, manufacturing support and hardware ownership on our most challenging cryogenic technical problems, owning hardware from cradle to grave and delivering it to the vehicle. The interview process includes a technical assessment.
Responsibilities
- Define, own, and control the liquid subsystem technical baseline, performing technical work and providing technical leadership of the highest caliber.
- Manage internal and external procurements and internal hardware dependencies required to meet subsystem deliveries.
- Lead and perform technical trades on cryogenic systems that meet vehicle and customer needs.
- Own hardware drawing release, manufacturing plan development, manufacturing support and integration onto the vehicle.
- Lead internal and external cryogenic technological development meetings.
- Cradle‑to‑grave ownership of cryogenic system.
Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical subject area.
- 8+ years of experience in cryogenic fluids and mechanical systems/components.
- Experience developing, integrating and certifying aerospace systems for flight.
- Experience with fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels and instrumentation.
- Experience with Cryogenic Fluid Management techniques and technologies.
- Experience leading small teams and subcontractor teams to accomplish objectives.
