About the role
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) seeks experienced Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to join our dynamic outpatient clinics. This role requires collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to assess, report, and address patient needs. Responsibilities include utilizing EMRs, assisting with exams and procedures, maintaining inventory, and completing required trainings.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to assess, report, and identify changes in patient conditions.
- Utilize advanced electronic health record (EMR) systems to communicate important patient data, supporting informed decision-making.
- Design and implement educational plans to empower patients and families with the knowledge to manage their health.
- Absorb or perform exams and procedures, take accurate vital signs, and ensure high-quality patient care through the preparation, operation, and sterilization of medical equipment.
- Maintain inventory and ensure all supplies are stocked and ready for use.
- Occasional duties include completing required institutional and departmental trainings, participating in emergency preparedness drills, attending nursing staff meetings, completing annual lab competencies, and completing required certifications.
Requirements
- Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocational nursing.
- Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or a temporary permit pending full licensure.
- At least two years of LVN experience in a hospital, clinic, or community-based environment.
- CPR \\ BLS Certified.
- Experience in providing services to patients with a diverse patient population through the life span (adults & children).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
- Experience in providing services to patients with mental illness.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (bilingual).
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocational nursing.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, proficiency in electronic health records, and the ability to manage inventory and supplies are essential.

Pay
The starting pay grade for this position is 16.89, with a maximum of 26.00. Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. Shift
This position works Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
