Sr Learning Management System Administrator

About the role

The Senior Learning Management System Administrator will own and manage our Moodle LMS end-to-end, including Linux servers, databases, and the application layer. This role involves working closely with the IT team, instructional designers, and educators to ensure the LMS supports course delivery, user experience, and data management.

Responsibilities

• Administer the Linux servers (web servers, database, file servers, and caches)
• Tune and optimize the Moodle environment
• Implement and maintain backups, access controls, and security hardening
• Maintain Moodle updates and security patches
• Manage Moodle integrations and ensure reliable connections
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across server, database, and application layers
• Partner with instructional designers and educators to meet curriculum and training needs
• Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff
• Lead projects and supervise technical staff

Requirements

• Minimum of five to seven years of system administration experience
• Experience with Moodle administration and Linux server management
• Knowledge of Moodle plugins, themes, roles, and enrollment workflows
• Experience with Moodle LTI and SCORM integrations
• Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field
• Proven experience in administering and maintaining Moodle-based Learning Management Systems
• Experience with PHP, MariaDB, and Apache web server
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML
• Experience with system monitoring and performance tuning
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
