Sr. Lead Data Engineer, Field Insights & Technology
About the role
As a Sr. Lead Data Engineer within the Field Insights & Technology team, you will lead and execute complex data engineering projects supporting multiple Restaurant Development analytics and reporting needs. Sr. Lead Data Engineers design, implement, maintain, and optimize analytics infrastructure on technically complex projects, focusing on data modeling and analytics technology solutions. You will develop mastery of Restaurant Development subject matter and work with latitude for action or decisions on specific projects, solutions, or technical issues.

Responsibilities
- Translate business logic into scalable data and analytic solutions in partnership with business stakeholders and IT.
- Develop ETL pipelines for general business consumption, leveraging existing patterns and building for scalability.
- Leverage cloud compute resources efficiently.
- Own and ensure data model and code quality, including relevant documentation.
- Implement data governance and master data management principles across projects.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to support specific project work.
- Drive complex projects to success and enable others to own the impact.
- Manage maintenance and quality control for data pipelines or data products in active use.
Requirements
- Strong analytical and BI data modeling skills.
- Deep understanding of database technology and analytic platform data use.
- Experience with DBT and/or other ETL/data transformation tools.
- Strong programming skills in SQL and/or Python.
- Experience using the AWS big data technology stack and console.
- Ability to partner with cross-functional teams using strong written and verbal communication.
- Keen eye for system thinking, process design, scalability, and automation.
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in MIS, Decision Sciences, Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or similar fields.
- 10% travel required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with Databricks or similar ETL platforms.
- Extensive experience with DBT or similar data transformation tools.
- Moderate experience implementing data governance principles.
- Proficiency in Data Analysis, AWS Redshift, AWS S3, SQL, Python, and Tableau.
- Moderate experience using the AWS big data technology stack and console.
- Experience architecting data pipelining solutions and data infrastructure.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
