Responsibilities
- Serve as the OMEGA EP System Analyst and oversee the operation of the Omega EP laser facility.
- Act as the Shot Director and manage both the engineers and technicians standing watch, as well as the execution of complex setups for state-of-the-art experiments.
- Analyze proposed experimental configurations for system safety, feasibility, and efficiency.
- Maintain and optimize facility performance through monitoring and developing new performance metrics.
- Manage small facility enhancement projects and prepare reports and presentations on current system performance and capability.
- Author and review procedures for shot and maintenance operations, as well as audit and develop business rules for an under development shot request and configuration system.
- Collaborate with IT personnel to define and implement business rules and shot management systems.
- Work closely with programmers and other IT staff to implement business logic and develop tools or web-based utilities for efficient operations.
- Communicate with principal investigators and other members of the scientific community to support experimental campaigns.
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: B.S. Degree in Physical Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and 5 years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of skills and work experience required.
- M.S. Preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a Security Clearance (which requires a background check) required.
- Ability to qualify as a Radiation Worker under LLE’s instruction required.
- Proficient with MSOffice Suite required.
- Proficient with MATLAB preferred.
- Experience in complex plant shift operations, such as power plant or microprocessor fab facility preferred.
- Experience with high power laser or complex optical systems preferred.
- Experience with high energy density physics experiments preferred.
- Experience working in a team or leading a team preferred.
- Experience in a high complexity and fast-paced multi-shift production environment preferred.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills suitable for working in a team-based environment preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of high reliability and attention to detail preferred.
