About the role
Join our dedicated team in Unity Lab Services as a Lab Support Specialist, where we provide seamless support tailored to our customers' unique needs. We’re seeking an organized individual to handle lab support operations, including glasswash, garment management, and gas/dry ice management. You'll be the primary point of contact for lab personnel, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all support activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform specific tasks associated with labware operations, including precision cleaning, inventory management, quality control, and sterilization through autoclaving
- Handle gas cylinder order placements and possess knowledge of gas meters, with the ability to safely manage encounters with HAZMAT materials
- Collect used labware/materials from various labs and ensure dedicated points of use are fully restocked
- Handle gas, garment, and dry ice management, ensuring a consistent supply and safe storage of these materials
- Partner with clients to understand their labware and material needs, providing timely support and ensuring stock availability
- Follow well-defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, SOPs & Work Instructions
- Maintain accurate inventory records, fulfill contractual obligations, and assist in tracking business metrics
- May perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years experience with material handling required
- Good x Practice (GxP) environment or laboratory setting experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards
- Must successfully complete and satisfy Thermo Fisher’s pre-employment screening (including background check and drug test) and any customer-mandated screening, credentialing, or badging requirements
Environmental Conditions
- Laboratory setting with exposure to chemical-based allergens like penicillin and tetracycline
- Office and warehouse environments
- Various outside weather conditions
- Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, steel-toe shoes, etc.)
- Work with hazardous/toxic materials
- Regular standing, walking, reaching, and bending; frequent use of pushcarts and forklifts to move up to 100 lbs
- Varied temperature environments
- Overtime work may be necessary

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

$21.60 per hour
