Duties And Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Managers and field leadership nationwide to ensure accurate job cost tracking and financial reporting
- Analyze project financial performance, including cost-to-complete, projected margins, and variance analysis
- Provide routine and ad-hoc project financial reporting to project teams and senior management, proactively identifying risks and opportunities
- Participate in and contribute to project handoff, review, and close-out meetings
- Lead job setup and maintenance, including establishing job numbers, budget allocations, and projections in the accounting system
- Review and approve job cost coding for direct cost invoices, subcontractor charges, and field payroll timesheets
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries related to job cost, revenue recognition, accruals, and allocations
- Allocate direct and indirect costs, including inventory, equipment, labor burden, and engineering, using sound methodologies
- Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting all job cost activity, accruals, and allocations
- Support internal and external audits, including compliance with federal or regulatory requirements when applicable
- Drive continuous improvement of job cost controls, reporting tools, and accounting processes
- Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced accounting or project staff on job cost practices
- Deliver proactive and responsive internal customer service to project teams and leadership
- Travel periodically to field locations for relationship building, project reviews, and financial status updates
Qualifications And Skills
- 5+ years of progressive project or job cost accounting experience in construction, utilities, or project-based environments
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Advanced knowledge of job cost accounting, project financial analysis, and variance reporting
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition and cost allocation methodologies
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis)
- Experience with construction accounting systems such as Sage, Spectrum, or similar preferred
- Working knowledge of federal contracting or regulated environments (e.g., FAR, CAS, FERC) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills
- High level of attention to detail, integrity, and accountability
Pay And Benefits
Salary: $70, 000 - $90, 000 annually.
