SR. JANITOR

Grade 312 – Council 94/Local 528 (Service/Maintenance) – Full-time, permanent, calendar-year position.

About the role

Responsible for cleaning, custodial work, and maintenance in a moderate-sized public building. May supervise a small group of employees or assist in supervising a larger group engaged in cleaning, custody, and routine maintenance of a large public building.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sweep, dust, scrub, wash, vacuum, polish, or wax floors, walls, windows, woodwork, furniture, and equipment in offices, halls, wards, staff quarters, dining rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, restrooms, operating rooms, and laboratories.
• Clean plumbing fixtures, collect and dispose of trash, garbage, and waste matter.
• Move furniture and equipment; stock washrooms with soap, towels, and supplies.
• Run errands, clean sidewalks, and perform lawn and garden maintenance.
• Monitor property and grounds.
• Operate passenger or freight elevators as needed.
• Perform minor building or equipment repairs or assist maintenance staff.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of cleaning and custodial equipment and methods.
• Proficiency in using custodial tools and supplies.
• Ability to supervise the work of others.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Qualifications

• Completion of eight school grades.
• Experience in general cleaning and custodial work.
• Any combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to the above.

Pay

Salary range: $45,887 – $49,588 per year, plus an additional $4,160 annual second-shift differential.

Schedule

3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday (days off: Sunday and Monday).
