Sr. IT Project Manager
About the role
The Senior Project Manager leads one or several projects, programs, or workstreams of medium complexity. Stakeholders may include external functional leaders, producer business unit (PBU) leaders, and outside customer leaders. This role operates with minimal supervision from directors or managers and is accountable for delivering the business case of assigned projects in line with project assumptions. The Senior Project Manager ensures all projects align with business unit strategies and the strategic roadmap, adapting to changing business needs as required.
Responsibilities
- Align projects with corporate strategy and enable teams/sponsors to plan for execution and success.
- Manage project uncertainties with appropriate contingency and mitigation plans, including documenting and maintaining risks and issues.
- Monitor and control the project throughout its lifecycle, maintaining the project plan to ensure success.
- Document and approve project scope changes.
- Manage the engagement of assigned project team members to successfully execute the project, either formally or through influence.
- Develop team dynamics and individual team members through training and coaching.
- Ensure project communications support successful completion, including stakeholder analysis, communication planning, and organizational change management.
- Serve as the single point of contact for the program/project for all key stakeholders in corporate, business units, plants, or other functional organizations.
- Document and route lessons learned to appropriate stakeholders for dissemination.
- Collaborate with project team members and contributors to create detailed project plans enabling resource estimation.
- Facilitate agreement on high-level project goals and key measures of success with the Project Sponsor and major stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or, in lieu of a degree, 13 or more years of relevant experience.
- 8 or more years of experience, including 4 years of project experience (in any capacity) and 1 year leading projects.
- 3 or more years of experience managing others (desired).
- Experience working for multiple functions or strategic business units (SBUs) (desired).
Skills
