Sr Integration Engineer
Solution Development
Developing and configuring middleware components involves hands-on work with enterprise integration platforms to build reliable data pipelines. According to the sources, this includes:
- Building Seamless Integrations: Designing, developing, and implementing data solutions primarily using integration platform tools, cloud hosting tools, event management tools/triggers, AI platforms, and API gateways
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with business partners and cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and prioritize the product backlog for foundational technology
- Quality Assurance: Conducting code reviews and ensuring software quality through rigorous testing and debugging
- Product Ownership: Driving a product ownership culture where the engineer takes accountability for the foundational services they build, utilizing appropriate management tools to meet the company's business needs
Operational Excellence & Service Delivery
Provide technical support and maintenance for existing integrations. Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze logs, debug code (e.g., JavaScript, APIs), analyze message formats, and resolve complex incidents, analyze root causes, and manage problems proactively using tools like ServiceNow or Jira. Master Agile methodologies and robust service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL). Act as a clear, constructive communicator with supervisors and stakeholders to ensure a seamless customer experience. Establish, monitor, and report on service level agreements and key performance indicators to ensure the operational health of foundational products. Utilize cloud-based logging and platform monitoring tools to maintain full visibility across the integration ecosystem. Drive process optimization by automating repetitive tasks, proactively suggesting service enhancements, and thoroughly documenting and sharing solutions via documentation platforms. Maintain a current understanding of emerging trends, industry best practices, and operations in data engineering, products and integrations to continuously evolve the company's foundational technology.
Solution Architecture, Governance & Strategy
Provide insight and help champion the vision, strategy, and roadmap for core data integration platforms (e.g., Boomi, Sterling Commerce EDI, and AWS/Snowflake technologies) to ensure they effectively support BPS teams' data delivery needs. Define and architect scalable integration solutions and API-led connectivity, ensuring alignment with the Les Schwab Enterprise Architecture framework and modern integration patterns. Evaluate architectural options for addressing business needs through foundational technology improvements. Define, document, and govern standards, policies, and development guidelines for implementing data integration and EDI solutions across federated developer teams. Ensure documentation of enterprise artifacts related to platform products and assist Enterprise Architecture in artifact management. Champion a culture of security and compliance as a core feature of all foundational products, ensuring adherence to cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements.
Team Collaboration & Self-Improvement
Actively participate in team discussions, contribute to a collaborative environment, and share knowledge with other team members. Pursue professional development, continuing education, approved training, and certifications to enhance expertise in product management, software development, and integration technologies. Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members on product-centric approaches and technical best practices.
