Sr. Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance a hybrid infrastructure environment. The role involves hands‑on work with Windows Server, cloud platforms, security, patching, automation, and production application support, including upgrades, migrations, remediation, and troubleshooting of mission‑critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Operations & Administration: Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments on‑premises and in the cloud; perform OS upgrades, patch installation, testing, and ongoing updates; develop and use PowerShell scripts and other automation tools for centralized tasks; lead server migrations to cloud platforms.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain security configurations, endpoint protection, access control, and hardening standards; conduct vulnerability remediation for servers and applications; work with security tools and processes to ensure consistent protection and monitoring.
• Patching, Monitoring & Automation: Manage patching cycles using SCCM or similar platforms; maintain ongoing monitoring and performance assessment of infrastructure services to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Oversee routine backup operations; support recovery processes for mission‑critical systems; develop, refine, and support Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
• Production Application Support: Provide advanced server‑level support for enterprise applications built on .NET, Java, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and warehouse technologies; troubleshoot high‑impact production issues across hybrid infrastructure and middleware layers.
• Networking & Systems Integration: Apply deep knowledge of OSI model layers and networking protocols to diagnose connectivity and application issues; collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support application deployments and infrastructure enhancements.
• Communication & Collaboration: Translate business or user requests into actionable technical solutions; communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; work closely with the IT Portfolio Manager and Infrastructure & Operations teams to align engineering efforts with organizational needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands‑on experience with Windows Server administration in both on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Strong expertise in PowerShell scripting and automation tools.
• Proven experience with server migrations, OS upgrades, and patch management (SCCM or equivalent).
• Deep understanding of security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection.
• Solid background supporting enterprise applications built on .NET, Java, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and warehouse platforms.
• In‑depth knowledge of networking concepts, OSI model layers, and protocol behavior.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Preferred: Microsoft‑focused certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) and network‑focused certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
