Sr Indirect Fuel Tax Accountant
About the role
Play a key role in keeping our organization compliant and financially strong. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, support audits, and help shape smart tax strategies in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and file monthly, quarterly and annual fuel tax filings in compliance with multiple regulatory agencies
- Analyze state and local fuel tax laws, advise on new product/service taxability, and support effective tax strategies
- Assist with fuel audit requests, gather documentation, and coordinate
- Research and communicate issues to store accounting, fuel accounting and help desk to ensure accurate collection and accounting for fuel tax accruals and related ledger activity
- Communicate frequently with management team, field operations, Regulatory Agencies, vendors, suppliers and other necessary outside organizations in respect to assigned areas
- Interface frequently with various levels within the organization
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Minimum of 1 year US fuel tax experience
- Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Advanced Excel skills (i.e. v-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables)
- Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines
- Strong computer, presentation and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
