Sr HVAC Mechanic
Celgard, LLC develops and manufactures membrane battery separators that are critical components used in lithium-ion batteries for electric drive vehicles (EDVs) and energy storage systems (ESS).
About the Role
We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic to be a part of the Maintenance team based in Concord, NC. This position directly reports to the Electrical Supervisor and does not supervise others.
Schedule
This is a day shift position: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a technical related field, or completion of an accredited trade school in HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems) or equivalent training required
- EPA Clean Air Section 608 License preferred – will be required to complete it if hired
- NC Electrician License preferred
- NC Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License preferred
- Special courses in electrical, pneumatic, facility monitoring/control, and power plant systems are preferred
Requirements
- 10 years of experience in an industrial environment maintaining and repairing HVAC systems
- Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems
- Ability to repair and/or replace electrical components that make up HVAC systems
- Must be able to work at heights up to 30 feet, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend and twist in order to reach remote equipment
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Flexibility to carry a cell phone for coverage and site-wide communication; willingness to work a 2nd or 3rd shift schedule when required
- Proficiency with computers and computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel)
- Ability to use special tools and equipment to install and maintain HVAC systems (tools include but are not limited to hammers, wrenches, electric drills, pipe cutters, metal cutters, benders, thermometers, pressure gauges, manometers, acetylene torches, and volt meters)
- PIV equipment license (forklifts, man lifts, etc.)

Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, inspect, test, and repair engineering facility systems including electrical, HVAC, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, air, fire facility monitoring, and Building Automation System
- Understand Cleanroom HEPA filtration systems, cleanroom requirements, and protocol
- Understand complete HVAC system monitoring best practices for optimum manufacturing run conditions
- Utilize technical publications, diagrams, etc., to accomplish maintenance, repair, and the ordering of material and equipment
- Accomplish required services for HVAC systems that utilize Freon (CFC-HCFC)
- Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, man lifts, etc.)
- Repair and/or replace electrical components
- Maintain screw-type chillers and water-cooled air handlers
- Maintain operations and maintenance records
- Work collaboratively with others; lead and participate on cross-functional teams
- Follow all Celgard safety guidelines and procedures; plan safety into projects and tasks
- Keep all Celgard information confidential
Working Environment
This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that requires working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate. You may be required to lift up to 35 pounds and/or exert force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Celgard manufacturing sites are IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified.
