Sr. HSE Manager - Operational Excellence/Health & Safety
Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to lead a proactive and collaborative approach to promoting a culture that drives Health, Safety and Environment as a core value enterprise-wide. The role will primarily focus on continuously improving the CBRE HSE Management System. This position will assist with driving the execution, adoption, and sustaining of global systems, procedures, and policies throughout the organization that instill Serious Incident and Fatality (SIF) Prevention and Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.
About the role
This position will report into the SVP, HSE for CBRE and forms part of the Global HSE leadership team. This position will support industry sector and regional alignment around HSE systems, programs, and policies along with driving consistent customer experience related to policy deployment and management system implementation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and consistent delivery of HSE governance and performance including scheduling, meeting content and materials, minutes, and action tracking.
- Support development of monthly HSE business reviews along with global content development and coordination across HSE regions and industry sectors.
- Lead the Serious Incident and Fatality (SIF) Prevention program for CBRE including, but not limited to the Level 1 SIF standard, SIF/PSIF Board Reviews, lessons learned, and corrective action management.
- Manage the tracking of SIFs/PSIFs and coordination/scheduling of business reviews.
- Serve as a technical support liaison for HSE with business lines and operational HSE on compliance issues that involve clients, regulatory, or other external/3rd party agencies.
- Assist with CBRE’s annual Safety and Wellbeing Week incorporating involvement from leaders through all lines of business, HSE SMEs, and external SME’s that drives execution of our annual plans and engagement throughout all levels of the business.
- Support the development of Level 1 and Level 2 Line of Business HSE standards.
- Develop HSE strategies to instill Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles into HSE strategic plans, initiatives, and the CBRE management system framework.
- Manage the HSE internal website and electronic management system framework ensuring content remains updated.
- Assist, where necessary, our Professional Services team with projects that include clients and/or internal accounts.
- Participate in Corporate HSE Audit Teams in support of the Corporate HSE Performance Auditing Program.
- Monitor and stay apprised of changing health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance requirements and industry best practices globally ensuring they are built into our change management process, where necessary.
- Collaborate successfully with other departments, including People, Legal, D&T, Technical Excellence, and Risk, to complete the essential duties listed above.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university in occupational safety, public health, law, industrial hygiene, science, engineering, or related field. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive global management experience including HSE or related management functions.
- Must have strong technical and regulatory knowledge in health, safety and environmental affairs.
- Professional background with systems implementations, re-engineering, and other large/complex projects.
- Leadership experience with large organizations supporting policy making, globalization, change management, and cultural change. A proven track record of executing and operationalizing a global strategy successfully across a complex, regional structure including successfully driving a change agenda.
Qualifications
- Certifications in the field of HSE such as the CSP, CIH, CHMM or other certifications in the field of EHS are highly desirable.
- Qualifications in auditing such as lead auditor certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are desirable.
