Purpose/Objective

Responsible for providing HR consultation and support to designated business areas on various HR matters including workforce planning activities, employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, and training & development. Stays abreast of federal, state, and local employment laws. Provides a wide range of highly confidential analytical and operational support.

Key Accountabilities

  • Acts as a trusted advisor and maintains open and effective communication with assigned business areas.
  • Provides guidance and support to business line managers on navigating performance management matters through coaching, counseling, career development, and corrective action.
  • Manages and resolves routine employee relations matters and conducts thorough investigations, as necessary.
  • Ensures all matters are addressed and resolved timely and in a consistent manner in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Proactively takes action to mitigate any potential legal risk.
  • PARTNERS WITH TALENT ACQUISITION AND MANAGEMENT TO SUPPORT RECRUITMENT STRATEGIES TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT.
  • AID MANAGERS WITH DETERMINING DEPARTMENT NEEDS AND DEVELOPING JOB DESCRIPTIONS.
  • ANALYZE COMPENSATION DATA FOR MARKET COMPETITIVENESS AND INTERNAL EQUITY.
  • ASSIST MANAGERS WITH DETERMINING DEPARTMENT NEEDS AND DEVELOPING JOB DESCRIPTIONS.
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING HR POLICY GUIDANCE.
  • RESPONDS TO HR RELATED INQUIRIES AND/OR REFERS TO THE APPROPRIATE RESOURCES.
  • MANTAINS KNOWLEDGE OF TRENDS, BEST PRACTICES, REGULATORY CHANGES, AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN HUMAN RESOURCES, TALENT MANAGEMENT, AND EMPLOYMENT LAW.
  • SUPPORTS OFF-BORROWING PROCESSES, CONDUCTS EXIT INTERVIEWS AND ANALYZES DATA TO IDENTIFY TRENDS.
  • PARTNERS WITH BUSINESS LEADERS TO IDENTIFY STRATEGIES TO REMEDIATE FEEDBACK.
  • PARTICIPATES IN MANAGEMENT MEETINGS AND PRESENTS UPDATES, POLICY CHANGES, TRENDS, BENEFIT UPDATES AND OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION.
  • RESPONSES TO UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS, FILES APPEALS, AS NECESSARY, AND REPRESENTS THE BANK AT HEARINGS WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR.
  • ACTS AS A BACKUP TO OTHER BUSINESS AREAS, AS NEEDED.
  • PARTICIPATES IN SPECIAL PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES AS REQUIRED.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • PHR, SPHR or other professional HR certification preferred

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with emphasis on employee relations, performance management, engagement and retention
  • General banking experience; retail branch banking experience a plus

  • Proven ability to build partnerships and establish trust with business partners
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative in nature, with ability to work independently and is self-motivated
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality when communicating sensitive information
  • Demonstrated ability to apply objective independent thinking to ensure fair and equitable results while minimizing legal risk and liability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
