About the Role

Join Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of the Optum family of businesses, and work with one of the nation's leading health care organizations. As a multi-specialty clinic, we offer care from more than 900 medical providers in 65 medical specialties. The Healthcare Finance (HCF) Analytics team provides consultation to the Kelsey-Seybold executive team and select operational departments, focusing on identifying revenue and cost savings opportunities, supporting new product development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and reconciling incentive arrangements and payments.

Responsibilities

  • Create and produce financial reports, analysis, and reconciliations to understand key drivers of business units or service lines.
  • Independently access and validate data from multiple sources to meet analytical project requirements.
  • Implement appropriate measurement and analytical methods to achieve project objectives.
  • Produce summary, detail, and dashboard reports in a professional, concise, and readable format.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and analyze trends.
  • Identify potential problems with analysis assumptions and data quality; resolve or escalate as needed.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on analysis.
  • Develop analyses and models to estimate the impact of different scenarios for business decision-making.
  • Help develop and maintain systems and processes for reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of data and reports.
  • Create and maintain documentation of report processes and logic.
  • Coordinate with the Business Intelligence (BI) team to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities for automation of reports and processes; work with BI to implement.
  • Contribute to departmental expertise through team meetings, trainings, and independent research.
  • Manage ad hoc projects of varying complexity while completing routine workload.
  • Present findings and analysis to the HCF Management team, KS Executive team, and internal/external customers.
  • Train and coach less-experienced analysts on data retrieval, programming, and analysis techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, decision support, medical economics, healthcare informatics, or managed healthcare.
  • Experience with SQL or other programming tools (including Visual Basic and Excel macros).
  • Experience writing, debugging, and documenting complex queries against relational databases.
  • Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written; effective communicator.
  • High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic setting and balance multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the healthcare industry with understanding of healthcare data (claims data, ICD10, Medicare Advantage, Health Insurance Marketplace, capitated payment models).
  • Experience with statistical software (SAS, R, Minitab, SPSS).
  • Hands-on experience with encounter submission related to CMS risk adjustment claims.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and report on business units, products, or service lines with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with EPIC and Clarity reporting data warehouse.
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, or SSRS.

Pay

The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment, depending on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
