Sr. Harness Design Engineer, Harness Design
Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
In the Sr. Harness Design Engineer role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, procuring, testing, and supporting integration for the wiring harnesses across the entire satellite. Robust harness systems are crucial to maintaining reliable electrical system functionality. You will have direct impact on the success of creating a constellation of communication satellites that will be capable of reaching and providing broadband internet to the most remote areas of the world.
A day in the life: As a Sr. Harness Design Engineer, you will be the technical authority on interconnect and cabling solutions. You will provide technical leadership to the team while developing novel space hardware. You will play an integral part of gathering requirements for harness development as well as providing critical input for successful development of avionics hardware.
About The Team: On the Harnessing Team, each member has the freedom to explore new ideas and explore their feasibility. Collaboration is critical to success and is always a high priority both within the team, as well as when working with other teams. While you are an individual contributor, it is still expected that each member takes ownership when needed. No job/task is beneath any member.
That seems good. Responsibilities: list from "Key job responsibilities". Let's extract bullet points: - Harness design for satellite system requiring interfacing across mechanical, electrical and payload design owners, trading various configurations to identify best overall solution for reliability, manufacturability, test, integration, and cost. - Support make vs buy decisions, design reviews, and implement manufacturing and integration plans optimized for high rate production. - Engage various component suppliers and Harnessing manufacturing vendors for component & assembly level qualification. - Design/develop specifications and produce/procure power/data harnesses which meets electrical design requirements including current rating, targeted power loss, shielding, grounding and EMI/EMC. - Perform/oversee harness qualification and acceptance tests for launch environments and operation through mission life, including test fixture fabrication for prototype evaluations, and deliver all development and flight hardware per vehicle schedules. - Create 3D CAD routings, 2D manufacturing drawings, schematics, and assembly installation drawings. We'll put each asfor Qualifications and then within that we can have
or
- with sub-bullets. That's fine.
Skills: Could extract specific technical skills: JIRA, Siemens NX CAD, Teamcenter PLM, MES, Siemens Capital Software Suite, harness design, wiring selection, current de-rating, voltage drop analysis, shielding effectiveness, temperature, environment, outgassing, mechanical strength, functional specifications, design verification, functional test procedures, interdisciplinary teamwork, make vs buy, supplier engagement, qualification testing, 3D CAD routings, 2D manufacturing drawings, schematics, assembly installation drawings, mechanical harness routing for dynamic applications, articulated joints, hinged-line deployments.
But we might just list the skills from Preferred Qualifications that are not already in Basic. However we risk duplication. Perhaps better to have Skills section listing: JIRA, Siemens NX CAD, Teamcenter PLM, MES, Siemens Capital Software Suite, mechanical harness routing for dynamic applications, articulated joints, hinged-line deployments, interdisciplinary teamwork, supplier engagement, make vs buy decisions, design reviews, manufacturing integration plans, harness qualification and acceptance tests, test fixture fabrication, 3D CAD routings, 2D manufacturing drawings, schematics, assembly installation drawings.
But we need to ensure we don't invent. We'll pull from text.
Let's list:
- JIRA or related collaborative workflow
- Siemens NX CAD and formboard creation
- Teamcenter PLM and MES systems
- Siemens Capital Software Suite
- Mechanical harness routing solutions for dynamic applications (including articulated joints and hinged-line deployments)
- Interdisciplinary teamwork to execute product design from concept to production
- Working with external suppliers to develop/select components for spacecraft design or related industries
- Make vs buy decisions, design reviews, and implementing manufacturing and integration plans optimized for high rate production
- Harness qualification and acceptance tests for launch environments and operation through mission life, including test fixture fabrication for prototype evaluations
- Creating 3D CAD routings, 2D manufacturing drawings, schematics, and assembly installation drawings
That seems derived.
Benefits: text: "Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. Learn more about our benefits at https://amazon.jobs/en/benefits." Also mention sign-on payments and RSUs earlier but that is compensation.
We'll include benefits as

Pay: include salary range and sign-on payments and RSUs.
We'll output:

- maybe separate Basic and Preferred? Could do two

? Might be okay. Simpler: list all qualifications together? Might be okay but we lose distinction. Could do two

indicating Basic and Preferred. That's acceptable as not extra heading. We'll do:
