About the Role

Establishes and leads cross-functional commodity teams to create and implement value-optimizing supply strategies for assigned commodities. Works with project teams to identify sources and negotiate price and delivery for new components. Ultimately responsible for the supply relationship within the assigned commodity/commodities. Travel is required as needed for the successful completion of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Drive lower costs through regional/global consolidation.
  • Demonstrate considerable knowledge of sources of supply, markets, price, and commodity trends, with the ability to accurately predict marketplace events and develop both long-range strategy and short-term contingency plans.
  • Exhibit strong strategic supplier management skills.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make presentations and influence people at all levels of the organization, including upper management.
  • Manage multiple projects and activities that often have competing priorities.
  • Select and develop suppliers into strategic partners, bringing value and innovation to the supply chain.
  • Perform and manage the competitive bidding process and make vs. buy analysis.
  • Evaluate, measure, and report supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field or equivalent experience; advanced degree desired.
  • 7+ years of purchasing experience, with a preference toward procurement in a manufacturing environment with a Fortune 500 company.
  • Strong commodity experience within global sourcing.
  • Proven negotiating skills, team leadership/management skills, and project leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • International business experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA) is a plus.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or other related professional certification, completed or in progress, is desired.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certification, completed or in progress, is a plus.
  • Experience in supply chain operations and/or management is a plus.

Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for an office environment and manufacturing environments. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
