Sr. Global Commodities Manager, AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain & Procurement

About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

As a Global Commodities Manager (GCM) on the AWS Battery Team, you will lead strategic sourcing, technology strategy road mapping, and project execution for key battery commodities (including battery cells, modules, and packs) for our growing infrastructure. You will develop sourcing strategies and action plans to drive the lowest total cost of ownership while fueling exponential growth across our data centers.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing engagements and teams in opportunity identification and RFIs where appropriate.
• Develop and implement negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable supplier relationships.
• Analyze and determine opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base using system-level tools and techniques.
• Evaluate supplier core competencies, technologies, and competitive positioning using industry cost models.
• Review and approve a comprehensive list of suppliers for bid processes by analyzing industry trends and competitive positioning.
• Negotiate and implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
• Drive suppliers for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships and establish yourself as a primary business contact for key suppliers.
• Travel approximately 20% of the time.

In this role, you will partner closely with hardware engineering teams to devise sourcing and technology development plans for next-generation networking hardware. You will interact with hardware development, network design, deployment engineering teams, finance, legal, and other stakeholders while managing executive-level supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
• 6+ years of experience working with Core Cloud Technology Services, including Compute, Edge, Hybrid, Security, and/or Networking.
• 5+ years of experience solving problems with technology in the Automotive & Manufacturing industries.
• 5+ years of experience solving problems with technology in the Energy & Utilities industries.
• Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
• Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
• Experience leading complex, multi-year initiatives that may be cross-functional and/or span business and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements.
• Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations across leadership and cross-functional teams.

About the Team

The AWS Battery Team consists of global category managers (Procurement), supply chain managers (Supply Chain), and Product/Operations Managers who manage battery suppliers and internal Amazon initiatives. We drive supply continuity, technology development and adoption, cost optimization, and internal supply chain systems development for battery categories (battery cells, modules, packs, systems, power electronics). The team includes industry experts and those aspiring to grow their expertise, bringing diverse backgrounds to the table.

Pay

Base salary ranges:

• USA, CA, Cupertino: $162,700.00 - $220,200.00 USD annually
• USA, WA, Seattle: $147,900.00 - $200,100.00 USD annually
