Sr. Glassware Inventory Specialist

About the Role

This role focuses on enhancing the customer experience by handling and processing glassware, biologically contaminated items, and plastic ware. The position also involves supervising the glasswash department, maintaining service levels, and reporting metrics related to KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver glassware, biologically contaminated reusable glassware, and plastic ware.
• Observe established procedures for handling and transporting glassware and contaminated items.
• Perform specialist cleaning tasks, including autoclaving, ultrasonic cleaning, and pipette processing as part of an agreed periodic routine.
• Operate autoclaves for decontamination or sanitization.
• Operate glassware washers, dry heat sterilizers, ultrasonic baths, and incubators.
• Maintain temperature chart recorders and equipment forms, using proper documentation.
• Perform routine inspections and checks on glasswash and autoclave equipment.
• Prepare items for sanitization, including glassware, caps, and related articles.
• Inspect glassware for cleanliness and structural defects.
• Routinely check inventory of glassware and notify the Lead of deficiencies.
• Provide housekeeping for glassware processing areas.
• Follow all procedures in performing glassware processing tasks.
• Perform monthly de-scale and challenging of biological indicators.
• Use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all paperwork.
• Observe all safety precautions and proactively raise safety concerns.
• Complete all required trainings in a timely manner.
• Work closely with other teams to deliver lab support services seamlessly.
• Cross-train and back up other lab support areas as needed.
• Supervise the glasswash department and maintain day-to-day service levels.
• Capture and report metrics related to KPIs.
• Manage hazardous wastes in compliance with company procedures and regulations.
• Identify, handle, generate, accumulate, store, and label hazardous wastes.
• Ensure safety, security, and environmental compliance in daily activities.
• Address and correct potential safety hazards immediately.
• Understand ergonomic relationships between people, equipment, and the working environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with 4 years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment after training.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous glass wash experience.
• Supervisory or leadership experience.
• Customer service experience.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit or stand for 2-3 hours in laboratory areas.
• Walk 2-3 hours within a facility and between multiple buildings on campus.
• Reach above and below the shoulder, bend at the knees and waist.
• Lift up to 25 lbs.
• Perform office work activities, including keyboard use, for up to 4 hours.
• Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery.
• Use personal protective equipment in laboratory settings.
• Work with biohazards such as bloodborne pathogens.

Working Environment

• Work in a laboratory or controlled environment requiring personal protective equipment.
• Fast-paced environment with high job completion demands.

Pay

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $50,000 to $65,000. The final base pay offered will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, and individual qualifications such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
