Sr. Geotechnical Engineer | Department Manager

Responsibilities

• Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, slope stability assessments, and risk evaluation on developments.
• Training and supervision of lab technicians, maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration.
• Client marketing and proposal preparation.
• Overseeing project progress in timeline and budget/profit-loss capacities.
• Assisting Marketing with technical aspects in generating proposals.
• Providing direction on a project to project basis – i.e., preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
• Preparing geotechnical engineering reports.
• Interacting with clients on technical aspects of the projects.
• Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
• Overseeing quality of work submitted (QA/QC).
• Design development and analysis of earth embankments, earth retaining structures and anchoring systems.
• Performing analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability evaluations.
• Maintaining quality control standards and specifications.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects.
• P.E. credentialing is required.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus, but not required.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to read design drawings.
• Ability to meet schedules.
• Experience with common geotechnical software or ability to utilize software with minimal training.
• Self-motivated, reliable, quality minded, and detail oriented.
