Sr. Funding Programs Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an authority in water and wastewater infrastructure funding and financing across AE2S projects and client engagements.
  • Provide guidance to water and wastewater utility leaders on project funding and financing planning.
  • Be a recognized leader in the water and wastewater for infrastructure funding and financing.
  • Assist utilities in translating operational needs into capital improvement strategies.
  • Research and find funding sources for various programs clients are looking for to complete projects.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to evaluate and advance funding needs.
  • Conduct utility rate modeling, including rate studies, cost of service analysis, and rate design.
  • Support the growth of AE2S Nexus and Communications Practice services through client relationship development and strategic pursuits.
  • Collaborate with Client Program Leaders, Operations Managers, Practice Leaders, and project teams to identify and pursue opportunities with municipalities, utilities, and other government organizations.
  • Participate in business development activities, including meetings with clients and prospective clients, present at industry events and conferences, and expand a network of relationships.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with clients, funding agencies, and project partners.
  • Participate in proposal development and preparation, project pursuit activities, presentations, and client meetings.
  • Participate actively in professional associations and local, regional, and national industry events.
  • Present the findings of utility rate modeling to clients and prospective clients.
  • Provide communications consulting services to a variety of clients, including municipal, utility, regional water or wastewater systems, economic development and other government entities.
  • Aid clients by developing materials to explain complex financial and technical concepts to stakeholders and the public.
  • Create strategic communications plans for clients.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to create outstanding content and materials for internal and external clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Communications, Political Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in funding programs, finance, grants administration, or similar areas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local funding programs, including grant applications, loan programs, and funding strategy development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple funding initiatives, prioritize competing deadlines, solve complex funding challenges.
