About the Role
At AIS, we're looking for driven individuals who are passionate about making a difference, eager to grow, and aligned with our core principles. We are seeking a talented Lead Software Engineer to join our team. This role will initially support the unique needs of our client as a Sr. Full Stack Java Developer.
The Full Stack Developer will be part of an agile software development team, performing software development, O&M support, and adhering to agile methodology and scrum ceremonies. This role involves designing and implementing backend APIs using Java and Spring Boot, building secure and responsive UIs using React, and developing optimized PostgreSQL schemas and queries.
Responsibilities
- Provide full-stack design and development support using Java, Spring MVC Framework/Spring Security/Spring Boot, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Design and implement modern UI components using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and reusable design patterns.
- Implement normalized PostgreSQL schemas and entity relationships supporting system scalability.
- Develop and maintain secure RESTful APIs for data access and integration.
- Support and document data migration efforts, ensuring integrity and consistency between legacy and new systems.
- Plan and execute application deployments, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Assist in supporting all aspects of the project, including all phases of life cycle development.
- Ensure compliance with 508 accessibility, enterprise security practices, and other requirements.

- Operates independently or as a team lead, selects appropriate persistence technologies (e.g., EF, Dapper), defines source control strategies, and designs subsystem infrastructure.
- Tackles complex problems with thorough analysis, manages cross-functional delivery, and improves system reliability and scalability.
- Consistently meets deadlines even under challenging conditions, enforces standards through detailed reviews, and establishes productivity benchmarks for the team.
- Provides functional leadership by setting objectives, organizing resources, resolving conflicts, and engaging confidently with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Troubleshoots advanced client issues, supports requirements gathering, and contributes to vendor presentations or proposal activities.
Requirements
- Active Top-Secret Clearance (Interim Top Secret will not be accepted).
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience.
- Computer Science background with a degree (Bachelor’s or Master's) in the field.
- Strong User Interface (UI) design and development skills using React, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Strong development experience in the following technologies/areas: Java, Spring Framework/Security 6+, Spring Boot 3+, Hibernate 6+, SQL/PLSQL, PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, Maven build tool, and Git/GitLab.
- Experience with database design and data migration.
- Experience with AWS (S3, EC2, ECS, Aurora, CloudWatch), Keycloak, Kubernetes, Maven, and Docker.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum/Kanban frameworks/methodologies.
- Experience with Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and automation.

Pay
The targeted base salary range for this role is $117,000-$177,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
