Sr. Fragrance & Flavor Evaluator
About the role
The Fragrance & Flavor Evaluator at Kenvue guides the development process, serving as a liaison between Marketing, R&D, and external F&F suppliers. They determine the appropriate fragrance profile and confirm technical, regulatory/safety, and pricing parameters. This role oversees all aspects of the fragrance/flavor development process, ensuring compliance with requested profiles, guidelines, timelines, and compatibility with intended applications/base. They also liaise with formulation chemists regarding stability protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Global Fragrance & Flavor Leader to ensure resource allocation aligns with overall business objectives.
- Manages projects throughout the fragrance/flavor development cycle for all assigned brands/regions/applications.
- Works with outside F&F suppliers to develop fragrances/flavors tailored to project requirements and parameters (when necessary).
- Collaborates with Marketing/Product Development to further develop relevant trend-forward fragrance and market knowledge.
- Performs thorough olfactive/taste evaluations for assigned projects, both neat and in use.
- Supports in-house sensory panel tests and participates in them.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of market products/trends, relevant brands (both internal and competitive).
- Compiles olfactive mappings of market/product lines for internal use/demonstration.
- Exchanges in both creative and technical dialogues with Product Development/Marcom & R&D, navigating/mediating occasional differing priorities between the two regarding fragrance/flavor development.
- Presents fragrance trainings and occasionally assists in the development and updating of training curriculum.
- Evaluates stability/compatibility samples as necessary.
- Incorporates relevant/novel technology into the F/F development process when appropriate.
- Advise, interpret, and utilize consumer insights to drive iterative fragrance development.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to identify and speak succinctly about F/F elements.
- 10+ years’ experience in a F/F Development role.
- Acute sense of smell & taste with the ability to discern and communicate very specific olfactive/organoleptic notes, ideally with formal olfactive/taste training.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
- Vast, up-to-date awareness of scented products across relevant market segments.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills – both written and oral.
- Ability to balance/adapt to frequently shifting priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple functions.
- Ability to travel when needed (less than 10%).
What's In It For You
Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges: $110,500.00 - $156,000.00. This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
