About the Role
This position is for a licensed Fire Protection Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering and 10-15 years of experience. The individual will serve as the Engineer of Record in multiple states and will be responsible for leading engineering projects from conception through construction administration.
Responsibilities
- Implement engineering projects, including the creation of Construction Documents, coordination with other disciplines, permitting, bidding, and construction administration in accordance with client requirements and code.
- Ensure a high level of quality assurance for construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses.
- Research, develop, and stay updated with the latest designs in coordination with vendors, senior engineers, and online resources.
- Apply excellent knowledge of discipline-specific codes and other building codes.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as leadership to educate clients on design and project requirements.
- Meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
- Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
- Serve as the main point of contact for projects with clients, contractors, and consultants, requiring minimal input from the Project Manager or Principal.
- Ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
- Oversee the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications.
- Maintain Cuhaci & Peterson and/or client standards.
- Anticipate and resolve issues as they arise, providing ongoing quality control throughout the project.
- Obtain and perform peer reviews of documents.
- Oversee project budget(s) and complete the designated scope of work within the allotted time.
- Communicate owner revisions and RFIs.
- Assist in representing the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, as needed.
- Provide customer service to maintain client relationships.
- Mentor and train engineering designers to produce high-quality construction documents within budget.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer.
- Experience serving as the Engineer of Record in multiple states.
