Sr. Fire Protection Project Engineer

Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering and minimum 10-15 years of work experience as a licensed engineer. Must be Engineer of Record in several states.

Responsibilities

  • Implement engineering projects, including Construction Documents, coordination with other disciplines, permitting, bidding, and construction administration in accordance with client requirements and code.
  • Ensure high level of quality assurance on construction documents, specifications, and RFI responses.
  • Complete project requirements successfully as Project Engineer.
  • Research, develop, and stay updated with the latest designs in coordination with vendors, senior engineers, and other online resources.
  • Apply excellent knowledge of discipline-specific codes and other building codes.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Lead and educate clients on design and other project requirements.
  • Meet with the Project Architect and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
  • Estimate discipline man-hours required to complete the design requirements of a project.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for a project or series of projects with clients, contractors, and consultants with limited input from the Project Manager or Principal.
  • Ensure coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines.
  • Oversee the design and production of engineering construction documents and specifications for projects/programs.
  • Maintain Cuhaci & Peterson and/or the client’s standards.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Provide ongoing quality control throughout the project.
  • Obtain and perform peer review of documents.
  • Oversee project budget(s) and complete designated scope of work within allotted time.
  • Communicate owner revisions and RFIs.
  • Assist in representing the client’s interests at public hearings and meetings, as needed.
  • Provide customer service to maintain client relationships.
  • Mentor and train engineering designers to produce high-quality construction documents within budget.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
