Sr. FinOps Analyst
About the role
At ICW Group, we are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to drive enterprise financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis supporting business and technology investments. This role provides financial oversight of operating expenses, capital expenditures, and technology-related spend while delivering actionable insights that improve business performance, resource allocation, cost optimization, and strategic decision making. The position collaborates cross-functionally with groups such as Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Procurement, and other business functions to ensure investments align with organizational priorities and deliver measurable value.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the strategic expense planning process across the enterprise, including developing timelines, deliverables, templates, and tools for annual planning and interim forecasts.
- Tracks performance to plan metrics, prepares monthly reports, validates forecast assumptions, and quantifies business risks and opportunities.
- Facilitates annual operating and capital budget development process across assigned departments, coordinating with Accounting and other lines of business to integrate data.
- Establishes budget calendars, provides guidance to leaders, compiles data, and submits final approved budgets for approval.
- Supports organization-wide resource planning initiatives and incorporates technology spending forecasts (software subscriptions, cloud services, infrastructure, and strategic initiatives) into enterprise planning processes.
- Evaluates actual technology consumption against forecasts and provides recommendations to improve forecast accuracy and cost management.
- Develops and maintains financial models to evaluate capital positioning and provides actionable insights for senior management.
- Conducts scenario analysis to forecast potential financial outcomes and implications for stakeholders, including investors and rating agencies.
- Tracks and analyzes key risk metrics, prepares risk reports and dashboards, and highlights mitigation strategies.
- Develops department/enterprise metrics and scorecards to track performance and progress, including monthly reports, statistical measures, and financial analyses.
- Ensures compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant regulations, and develops internal controls for data accuracy.
- Creates financial and operational dashboards incorporating business, technology, and resource utilization metrics, including cost-per-unit and cost-per-user measures.
- Performs trend and variance analysis across traditional financial and technology investment categories.
- Provides analytical support across departments, coordinates project calendars, and compiles data for presentations.
- Leads medium to large projects using effective project management techniques and collaborates with stakeholders to align funding with business requirements.
- Supports strategic initiatives through business cases, ROI analyses, total cost of ownership (TCO) models, and investment evaluations.
- Provides financial guidance on technology transformation initiatives, including cloud and AI-enabled platforms.
- Partners with technology leaders to align funding requests with enterprise priorities and expected business outcomes.
- Monitors and analyzes technology operating and capital expenditures, develops financial models, and performs cost allocation and chargeback/showback analysis.
- Evaluates technology utilization trends, identifies cost optimization opportunities, and monitors vendor spend and software licensing costs.
- Produces recurring reporting and dashboards highlighting technology investment performance, utilization, savings opportunities, and financial risks.
- Supports contract renewals, vendor evaluations, and financial assessments of technology investment alternatives.
- Collaborates with IT and Procurement to improve visibility, accountability, and governance of technology expenditures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, finance business partnering, technology financial management, FinOps, business analytics, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting Information Technology, Digital, Data Analytics, or Enterprise Operations organizations preferred.
- Experience analyzing technology investments, software licensing, cloud services, or vendor expenditures preferred.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, Oracle, SAP, Coupa, or similar ERP/planning solutions preferred.
- Experience working with large datasets and business intelligence tools preferred.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and/or financial principles and practices.
- Knowledge of budget management, reporting best practices, and forecasting.
- Advanced competency using analysis tools such as Excel and Access.
- Understanding and demonstrated application of statistical analysis tools.
- Understanding of P&L financial statements and key business drivers.
- Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to collaborate across other technology programs.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills to influence and resolve issues.
- Attention to detail, sense of urgency, ability to multitask, adaptability, and flexibility.
- Understanding of technology investment planning, software licensing models, cloud consumption economics, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate technology spend using utilization, adoption, and value realization metrics.
- Advanced analytical skills with ability to synthesize financial and operational data into actionable business recommendations.
- Experience using data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with SQL, database querying, and large-volume data analysis preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Accounting, IT, Procurement, and business functions.
- Strong consulting and influencing skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Pay
The current range for this position is $90,559.93 - $152,723.07, exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education, and location.
