About the role

This position directs and performs financial analysis and reporting activities for Cox Automotive, focusing on Cloud platform providers and SaaS software. The Sr. FinOps Analyst creates accounting chargebacks for strategic technology vendors, gathers and analyzes spend data, and develops financial metrics centered on Cloud consumption. The role collaborates with product development teams and executive leadership to share cost trends, optimization opportunities, and best practices. Cox Automotive is transforming the automotive industry through solutions like Autotrader, KBB, Manheim, Dealer.com, and others, and is expanding its Financial Operations (FinOps) capability to govern and manage technology strategy and spend.

Candidates may reside in Atlanta, Georgia or Burlington, Vermont. Internal Cox employees may reside in any corporate office location. All must follow an in-office hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Create monthly accounting chargeback and showbacks for strategic technology spend to allocate costs to different business units or projects.
  • Identify and alert on cloud and AI cost anomalies in a timely fashion.
  • Think independently to solve difficult data problems.
  • Collate, analyze, and prioritize technology optimization recommendations and calculate potential savings.
  • Monitor ongoing cloud and AI expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities, such as unused or underutilized resources.
  • Develop expertise in cloud and AI cost optimization strategies (e.g., rightsizing, reservations, scheduling and scaling, model use, caching).
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams to implement cost optimization recommendations and best practices.
  • Utilize data visualization to tell compelling stories about technology usage and drive cost optimization practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and regulations related to FinOps and technology cost optimization.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to provide visibility into technology spending and cost trends.
  • Conduct in-depth cost analysis to identify cost drivers and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze multiple complex cost proposals.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.

Requirements

  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship (no OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship).
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of demonstrated technology experience. Alternatively, a Master’s Degree with 2+ years of experience or a Ph.D. with 1+ year of experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have a mix of 4+ years' experience in cloud operations and FinOps-related roles.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and a degree of technical depth or a strong interest in developing it.
  • Interest in developing deep knowledge of how purchased technology services meet business needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel (PivotTables, graphing, and relevant formulas).
  • Sound business judgment, ability to influence others, analytical skills, and a track record of taking ownership and driving results.
  • Experience driving high-impact projects spanning multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Must live near a listed office location and follow a weekly in-office hybrid schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detailed understanding of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform product lines, or other Cloud offerings.
  • Detailed understanding of AI product lines (Anthropic, Microsoft Copilot, AWS Quick, AWS Bedrock).
  • Experience with Cloud and AI cost optimization.
  • Experience working in cost chargeback processes.
  • Experience in IT financial management or FinOps.

Pay

Compensation includes a base salary in the range of $89,400.00 - $134,000.00 per year. The base salary may vary based on factors such as location and the candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation through an incentive program.
