About the role

The Finance Operational Analyst Senior provides financial support for critical areas and time-bound processes such as the annual budget, periodic forecasts, and the month-end closing cycle. They assist in the preparation of various financial activities including data gathering, trending, modeling, forecasting, planning, and reporting. The role involves collecting information from various areas across the company to build models that provide insight into underlying business dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review accurate and timely financial and business-related analyses, research, and forecasts.
  • Perform advanced trend and variance analyses, incorporating data from different areas and synthesizing findings. Translate findings into process improvements.
  • Maintain weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting and updates to management team. Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assigned areas.
  • Provide insights into the performance of the business and translate findings into potential action plans for the supported area.
  • Complete a variety of financial evaluation research and analysis activities, compiling data from various sources both internally and externally.
  • Present results of research and analysis to management.
  • Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting of the assigned business area, including variance analysis and sensitivity testing.
  • Lead critical planning and analysis processes, developing and providing ownership of complex short-term and long-term forecasting models.
  • Lead process improvements and strategic initiatives within functional areas under the direction of their supervisor.
  • Show proven ability to analyze business processes and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Able to articulate the impact of analysis, modeling, and business decision support on key financial measures.
  • Conceptualize, develop, and present business cases to financial and business leadership.
  • Act as an internal consultant and interact with management at all levels.
  • Perform other relevant job duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of FP&A experience required.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle and UNFI Financial Reporting & Planning tools is a plus.
  • Strong strategic planning, financial, and operations/business background.
  • Financial modeling experience.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in multiple, difficult, and complex financial analysis.

  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in providing economic, market, consumer, and business research and analysis for wholesale industries.
  • Demonstrated success in multiple, difficult, and complex financial analysis.
  • Cleary articulate and present ideas in a clear, concise manner. Able to listen closely to identify important facts, assumptions, and relevant information. Interpret meaning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, and related software applications.
  • Ability to be a team member and demonstrate skills to contribute to team dynamics.
  • Capability to work independently when needed.
  • Outstanding analytical skills (numerical, verbal).
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Must be self-driven and very motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others within a complex, fast-paced organization required.
  • Leads and directs the work of others across the company, without direct organizational line of authority.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and relationship skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Position also requires strong interpersonal skills, discretion, diplomacy, and judgment.
  • Strong teamwork ethic, positive, proactive, flexible attitude, ability to take complete ownership of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints as well as handling several tasks simultaneously required.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Statistical modeling skills a plus.
  • Possess excellent research and analysis skills.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Work Environment

This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons.
