About the Role

Field Performance Technicians manage, schedule, and complete all service and warranty-related work. This position requires the ability to work both independently and as part of the Performance O&M team, interacting closely with customers, the Branch Manager, Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and the centralized scheduling Field Service Team.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
  • Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and Branch Manager to allocate labor resources for service and warranty projects.
  • Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and Field Communications Technicians.
  • Lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices.
  • Support the on-boarding and training of new members of the field performance team.
  • Regularly exceed defined goals for field performance KPIs, including turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed.
  • Assist with inspections and site audits when assigned.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required; PV design or PV electrical experience preferred.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and pass a driving background check.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred; may be required depending on state regulations.

Skills and Competencies

  • Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards. Ability to interpret single-line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as they pertain to solar interconnection, tie-in, and code. Understands interconnection activities and basic construction principles.
  • Safety: Adheres to company safety policies and procedures, including identifying and reporting hazards and encouraging safe work practices.
  • Customer Service: Ability to establish rapport, build relationships, and maintain tactful communication with external and internal customers.
  • Results-Driven: Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics. Works independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment. Willing to assist teammates and build strong relationships to achieve company and department goals.
  • Problem Solving: Solid logical decision-making and troubleshooting skills. Exercises good judgment, takes ownership of issues, and escalates problems appropriately. Knows when to involve supervisors.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in relevant software and tools.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to transport materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in outdoor weather conditions, including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity.
  • Frequent use of hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
  • Ability to work safely with equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas.
  • Ability to work in the sun and low-light conditions.
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without causing damage.
  • Ability to distinguish colors (e.g., red, black, yellow, white, green).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces, requiring kneeling and crouching.
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.

Pay

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity: $29.05 to $38.73 per hour. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history.
