Sr Field Deployment Technician

About the role

Join our team supporting the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) deployment and training project as a Senior Microsoft Windows Field Deployment Technician. You will work onsite at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers and offsite training locations, deploying and configuring equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring seamless network connectivity during training sessions. This role combines technical expertise with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for setting up hardware, verifying proper imaging, and supporting various training sites with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, image, and set up IT equipment including PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, and scanners at various sites.
• Unbox, install, configure, and remove equipment with limited supervision.
• Re-package hardware for shipment and verify that each computer has the current VA image.
• Manage inventory and ensure network connectivity during training sessions.
• Set up equipment at training sites, including configuring network connections, Active Directory assignments, and peripherals.
• Support scheduled security scans and updates for computers.
• Transport equipment around the site, including lifting pallets up to 50 pounds, and frequently move equipment with carts.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, perform system imaging, and support hardware break-fix activities.
• Conduct routine system administration tasks and maintain logs.
• Support high availability systems and maintain connectivity during training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information System, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• On-site at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers and offsite training locations.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in imaging, installing computer equipment, and managing technical teams.
• Ability to unpack, move, and install IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must have personal transportation during work hours.
• Experience with hardware/software support, troubleshooting, and system deployment projects.
• Experience with routine system administration and troubleshooting of systems and networks.
• Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 total years of experience, or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Skills

• Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system.
• Familiarity with the VA.
• Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop deployments.
• Experience as an IT helpdesk Tier 1 or 2.

Pay

$50,000 - $70,000
