Sr. Field Construction Supervisor

About the Role

The Construction Field Supervisor will report to the Utility Construction Manager and will be engaged in the project during the construction phase of power delivery construction projects through final commissioning and closeout phases. Project scopes vary, and the role of the Construction Field Supervisor will adapt accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project teams to assist in developing project scope, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Conduct site visits and assist in developing detailed construction plans, including outage requirements.
• Assist in creating construction contract bid packages, reviewing responses, and participating in vendor selection.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and design constructability reviews.
• Develop detailed construction plans, including outage lists and resource requirements.
• Ensure contractor compliance with safety training and coordinate with survey and soil boring crews.
• Verify necessary permits are in place before construction begins.
• Participate in pre-construction and safety kickoff meetings.
• Monitor contractor material inventory and work with design engineers to address deficiencies.
• Conduct safety checks, including JSA development, hazard analysis, and accident reporting.
• Ensure contractor activities do not compromise system reliability or environmental standards.
• Coordinate environmental sampling, clean-up, and storm water management activities.
• Monitor project schedule, cost, and quality assurance during construction.
• Ensure as-built documentation and compliance with utility company standards.
• Work with investment recovery for conductor salvage and material returns.
• Provide daily kickoff and safety briefings to construction crews.
• Coordinate material deliveries, landowner access, and QA/QC activities.
• Maintain field notes and ensure compliance with permit requirements.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of experience in Electric Utility Transmission or Distribution.
• Knowledgeable in OSHA regulations and able to provide guidance on their application.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily conducted at project construction sites within the utility company service area, including substations, transmission, and distribution lines. Occasional travel to other service areas may be required. Interaction with team members, supervisors, and client personnel is expected. Must wear safety equipment as required and tolerate climate changes across multiple job sites in a day.

• Personal mobility to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations.
