About the role
Client is building a governed data platform on Microsoft Fabric. We already have a working proof of concept — a lending data slice running end to end through a bronze / silver / gold medallion. We're looking for a hands-on data engineer to take that POC to production across the full lending portfolio, then extend the same pattern to the next data sources across the business. You'll live in Fabric, pipelines, SQL and Python — this is a builder role, not a platform-administration role.
Responsibilities
- Take the POC to production — extend the lending medallion from a working slice to the full lending dataset across all cores and sources.
- Build & maintain ingestion pipelines — land file-based cores and API/JSON sources into Fabric, cleanly and on schedule.
- Implement the transformation logic — cleanse, standardize, and model data into the canonical silver and gold layers using the documented rules.
- Onboard the next data sources — apply the same repeatable pattern to new systems and lines of business as the platform grows.
- Make pipelines reliable — idempotent, monitored, and resilient to source-schema changes, with clear documentation so nothing breaks.
- Tune performance & cost — right-size Fabric capacity and optimize workloads as data volumes grow.
Requirements
- Hands-on data engineering on Microsoft Fabric / OneLake — lakehouse, pipelines, notebooks, medallion (or strong Spark / Databricks / Synapse equivalent with fast ramp).
- Strong SQL and Python (PySpark) — for building and debugging real transformation code.
- Data modeling & wrangling — dimensional / medallion design and taming messy sources (fixed-width, CSV, JSON / APIs).
- Solid, resilient ETL / ELT — incremental loads, idempotent runs, and error handling.
- Comfortable operating in Azure — storage, Key Vault, identities, resource groups — self-sufficient alongside the team that owns platform governance.
- Good communication — works directly with business stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
Nice to have
- Power BI and semantic models / reporting — helpful, but a data-engineering focus comes first.
- Microsoft Purview, Copilot Studio / Azure OpenAI, and Cosmos DB / API integrations.
- O&G experience with Midstream O&G highly preferred.
- Certifications: DP-600 (Fabric), DP-700, AZ-204 or AZ-104.
