Sr. Data Engineer

About the role

McLane is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional with deep SQL expertise and experience supporting data warehouses, analytics platforms, and batch processing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL workflows across DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server
• Support and enhance enterprise Data Warehouse architectures, including dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts for automation and batch scheduling
• Work with Mainframe datasets and utilities to extract and integrate data
• Build and support datasets and data models for IBM Cognos Analytics reporting
• Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver high quality data solutions
• Troubleshoot data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and system failures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Advanced SQL expertise across DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts (ETL, dimensional modeling, data marts, OLAP)
• Proficiency with Linux shell scripting (bash, ksh, etc.)
• Experience with Mainframe systems (JCL, datasets, utilities)
• Hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics or similar BI tools
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
