Sr Estimator

About the Role
The Sr. Estimator provides accurate vehicle repair estimates for mobile on-site fleet service for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. This role prepares estimate paperwork, collaborates with procurement/purchasing to obtain parts and pricing, and works with maintenance teams to ensure work is performed as required. The Sr. Estimator monitors work processes and outcomes for quality, adherence to timelines, and cost control.
Responsibilities
- Performs advanced estimation duties using compiled information from mobile technicians and customers.
- Evaluates the necessity and cost of repairs, monitors repair status, and ensures adherence to estimated timelines.
- Addresses escalated customer issues from team members, customers, or other stakeholders.
- Maintains records of repair details and completes necessary paperwork.
- Follows up on outstanding quotes and prioritizes workflow for effectiveness.
- Develops positive working relationships with estimation team members, internal stakeholders, and customers.
- Provides excellent customer service, acting as a trusted advocate for technical inquiries and general questions.
- Reviews, revises, and generates repair estimates at the customer’s request and specifications.
- Collects parts pricing and miscellaneous information from manufacturers and vendors.
- Continuously improves company capabilities in dispatching and service scheduling.
- Assists with other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent combination of education and experience considered (e.g., related certification/degree + 3 years’ experience).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant field (e.g., service advisement, maintenance coordination, technician dispatching, or diesel technology).
- 3+ years in a technician role or similar capacity.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
Skills
- Strong communication (written, verbal, and phone) and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, email, and software for generating repair estimates (e.g., Mitchell One or similar systems).
- Action-oriented with a sense of urgency; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

- Strong cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an Estimator in a diesel vehicle service department or dealership.
