About the Role

This position is for a Senior Environmental Specialist located in Middletown, PA at Crane Clean Energy Center (CEC). The role involves providing independent technical, regulatory, and program support on Constellation Nuclear Environmental compliance issues and projects across all relevant environmental areas. The Specialist serves as the program owner and administrator, working with functional areas for assigned programs that directly affect the compliance status of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and regulatory support in assigned environmental program areas (e.g., Air Permits, DOT shipment of hazardous wastes, NPDES permits, hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations, storage tanks, drinking water, Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure, SARA/EPRA, ISO/Environmental Management System, OSHA chemical safety, Hazmat).
• Attend and present at leadership meetings.
• Collaborate with industry trade groups and regulatory agencies to increase knowledge base and influence programs, projects, and regulations.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders and serve as a subject matter expert in at least one program area, while expanding expertise in additional areas as appropriate.
• Develop and provide environmental training to site personnel.
• Interact with regulatory officials to obtain approvals, permits, certifications, and licenses for environmental projects, pollution control systems, or waste management activities.
• Represent the site during internal and external environmental audits.
• Assist in responding to emergent environmental issues for the site and fleet.
• Manage environmental projects, including scope development, proposal solicitation and evaluation, funding requests, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
• Serve as a technical expert in meetings with regulatory agencies, engineering consultants, legal counsel, and technical committees.
• Review, evaluate, and interpret new and existing environmental regulations and legislation, updating procedures to reflect regulatory requirements.
• Support the evaluation of new technology, processes, and programs, recommending specific actions for Constellation Nuclear operations.
• Perform additional duties as directed, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support of outage activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, or a related program/equivalent.
• 6 years of experience working with environmental programs (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, SARA, RCRA, or other environmental program areas).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience presenting issues and advocating positions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of multi-media Federal and State Environmental statutes and regulations.
• Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination/testing in accordance with position duties.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the nuclear utility industry.
• Master's degree or graduate work in engineering, sciences, law, or business.
• Professional certification or other recognition.

Pay

Expected salary range of $113,400 to $126,000, varying based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
