Responsibilities
- Establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment that is compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures and employee communications regarding safety guidelines.
- Train employees in safe workplace practices.
- Develops and implements general safety policies and procedures in accordance with company requirements to be followed by site personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and national environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements; manage reporting and permitting.
- Oversees hazardous waste management and environmental compliance activities.
- Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs, and any applicable environmental permits or compliance requirements.
- PARTNERS WITH OPERATIONS, ENGINEERING, WORK CELL LEADERS, AND OPERATORS IN THE COMPLETION OF RISK ASSESSMENTS.
- SUPPORTS THE LAYOUT OF MANUFACTURING WORKSPACE TO OPTIMIZE A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT.
- Participates in new product integration and other management of changes projects.
- FORMULATES APPROPRIATE SAFETY POLICIES AND GUIDELINES.
- INSPECTS OR TOURS FACILITIES TO DETECT EXISTING OR POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS, INCIDENTS, AND HEALTH HAZARDS.
- RECOMMENDS CORRECTIVE OR PREVENTATIVE MEASURES WHERE INDICATED.
- KEEPS MANAGERS AND EMPLOYEES ALERTED AS TO THE HAZARDS OF WORKING WITH TOXIC FUMES, CHEMICALS, AND ANY OTHER HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES.
- DEVELOPS TRAINING PROGRAMS AND COMMUNICATIONS TO INCREASE PROFICIENCY IN SAFE PRACTICES AND PROMOTE SAFETY CONSCIOUSNESS.
- PARTICIPATES IN ACCIDENT/INJURY INVESTIGATIONS.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- MAY REPORT TO MANAGEMENT ON HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES AND CONCERNS.
- SUPPORTS ALL COMPANY SAFETY AND QUALITY PROGRAMS AND INITIATIVES.
Requirements
- A minimum of (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Preference given to candidates with education and/or training specific to EHS in a manufacturing environment.
- Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate creativity in identifying solutions which balance supporting customer and operational goals along with ensuring EHS requirements are in compliance.
- RCRA and DOT certification preferred.
